Modern Cape Cod Estate
Located in the affluent Dallas neighborhood of Lobello Estates. The imagined story for the design of the home was an older 2 story Cape Cod farmhouse that was purchased, modernized, and added on to with a more modern architecture. The central farmhouse element has a slate roof and stained cedar shake siding. Light and bright was the driving influence for this home and makes it fit perfectly with the current design trends in the U.S.

Natural light was an enormous factor, but they still wanted it to feel warm and cozy. The client accomplished that through whimsical wallpapers and dark colors in the pub area. The Client’s husband discovered the wallpaper used in the bathroom outside the pub room. It’s called Drunk Monkeys! Monkeys are pictured slugging vodka, sipping martinis, and smoking cigars. Bras are hanging from the tree limbs.
Everyone’s favorite part of this Modern Cape Cod is the deep green pub room with Lindsay Cowel wallpaper on the ceiling. Since the kitchen is the hub of the house, the other rooms open and connect to it. This is a perfect arrangement for entertaining allowing guests to easily move between the kitchen and the pub room, which features a bar lacquered in a beautiful shade of lavender.
The left side of the home has the formal living room with the study and behind that is the principal suite overlooking the enormous backyard. A 10-foot wall was constructed off the principal suite into the backyard creating a private green space off the bathroom. From there French doors open to a private trellised courtyard with an outdoor shower. The right side of the house has the family room, the gigantic kitchen with three islands, and a guest suite. The second floor features a guest wing, a living area, two sitting areas, and three additional ensuite bedrooms.
